DEBUT CD  - “You Said You’d Call Me “ –Released Summer ‘2005’.

About The Writing Process
Many of the songs on this album are from experiences I have had or that of other people I am close to.  I find the whole writing process truly amazing.  When I write, sometimes it can take one hour, a few months, or even longer to finish one song.  There is no real time frame.  I may start a song and put it away, and just sit with it for several months before I decide to go to the next step.  The next step would be: To record a demo and then do a full production of the song.   When you see a song you wrote come to life and to hear the full production for the first time it is so incredible.  I can't explain how it feels, only that as a writer you feel so much joy hearing your song in its entirety.  The producers, musicians, and background-singers are awesome on this album, and I appreciate, admire, and have so much respect for each of them.  I hope you enjoy reading the song descriptions below, and this will give you a more personal insight to each song I wrote.

luv,
Skyla

"You Said You'd Call Me"
This song is for all the ladies out there who have heard, “I ‘ll call you”, and the guy either doesn’t or he happens to call a couple of weeks later after your first date.  This song came about from an experience I had.
*Produced By:  Ted Hewitt
*Songwriter: Skyla Spencer

"Chuga Choo Choo"
This song is a feel good, happy, and up-lifting song that will make you want to dance with your honey.  The music is awesome, with a great fiddle solo that I feel makes the song.  This song just popped in my head one day and I came up with this hook.
I wasn’t sure what to make of this song when I first recorded it.  It turned out to be better than I imagined.  I would say it is the most loved song off of my album by all ages.

"If I Were Rain"
This song is a dedicated to the troops overseas.  They sacrifice so much to keep us safe.  It sends a powerful message to pray for one another in difficult times.  God Bless Our Troops!!  *It is also featured in a 9/11 documentary –“Moving On From 9/11”.

"He's A Bad Boy"
Most of us girls have dealt with a bad boy at one point in our lives.  We always like the ones we can’t tame for some reason.  This song has a twist-the girl may be just as bad as the bad boy.  Is she really a bad girl, or is it just game to her?  You decide.

"Wild Dreams"
This is a dreamy song about rainbows, falling stars, purple showers, etc. and the most important thing love.  The lyrics array a wonderful dream of going to this amazing place with that someone special. This song is a wonderful escape.
It is a song of imagination, and love.

Why Do You Do This To Me"
Running into an old flame can stir up emotions.  I wrote this song for all the people who thought they had moved on from a past love.  The song talks about being faced with the decision to try the relationship out again, or let go of a love you once knew.
*Produced By: Ted Hewitt
*Songwriter: Skyla Spencer

"Oh What A Day"
I can defiantly relate to this song.  I think we all have had crazy days.
One little thing happens and the whole day seems to fall apart.  This song is a humorous adventure that you must go on.
*Produced By: James Williams
*Songwriter: Skyla Spencer

"You Made Me Believe"
This is a true heartbreak song.  Someone is unfaithful and breaks your heart.  The promise & vows he made are broken.  The melody is soothing and the steel guitar is awesome on this song.
*Produced By: James Williams
*Songwriter: Skyla

"In Paradise"
If you have been in a broken relationship before, this song talks about taking a chance with someone new in your life.  Let go and fly.  Travel the world with this new love in your life, and don’t hold back.  Don’t be afraid to love again.
*Produced By:  James Williams
*Songwriter: Skyla Spencer

"One More Chance"
This song I wrote with someone in mind.  It is a song that talks about giving love another chance.  Don’t let love pass on by.   If you want a second chance with your soul mate this song is for you.  The background vocals and music was done beautifully by John Foster in Nashville.  It is a soothing, medium-tempo song that will touch your heart especially if you are really missing someone.
*Produced By:  Bob McGilpin
*Songwriter: Skyla Spencer

"Reach For The Stars"
This song tells an amazing story of dreams, courage, and determination.  The mother is the daughter’s rock, and this trait is passed down from one generation to another.  It is a song I wrote with my mother in mind.  She is an incredible person and is one of the most giving people I know.  She has supported me and encouraged me to chase my dreams.  She is always in my corner, and I am truly blessed.  One day when I have children I hope to pass down all the strong values etc. that my mother has instilled in me.
